Taehee Park – music between unleashed rage and deep sincerity
„Bright Star“ Park Taehee, bassist for Korean rockers YB, sings with a true courage that makes life bearable.
Along with Yoon Do-Hyun (vocals), Kim Jin-won (drums) and Heo Jun & Scott (guitar), he forms the Korean rock institution “YB”, who have been intensively active on stage since their debut in 1994, mostly headlining major Korean festivals, and have released a whopping 10 studio albums.
YB’s musical style is primarily influenced by classic rock, but what makes them so unique is the combination of modern rock elements and a contemporary Korean cultural identity.
With lyrics about everyday life, sometimes with anger, sometimes pure courage, the band presents a diverse musical spectrum that never denies its roots in rock.
From folk rock and club rock to traditional Korean instruments, DJs and orchestras – YB crosses borders and presents a broad portfolio of musical facets.
The band is considered a cultural ambassador that has popularised Korean music on the global music market.
This includes special performances in Japan, Europe, the USA and even Pyongyang, as well as being the first Korean musicians to participate in the legendary music festivals SXSW and the Vans Warped Tour.
For his work Taehee Park was honoured with the ‘Best Music’ Award by the three major Korean TV stations KBS, MBC and SBS, the ‘Best Performer’ Award by Korean music producers and the Best Music Award in the rock category by Korea’s representative music stations such as KMTV and M.NET.
Together with YB, he also won the ‘Best Challenge Award’ at the ‘KBS Entertainment Awards’ in 2023, a special award for his participation in a documentary about global environmental problems.
In search of a high end bass cable that could withstand the rigours of touring as well as intense studio sessions, Taehee discovered KLOTZ cables: „With the TITANIUM series, I like the clear bass line while maintaining the thickness of the low end.”
